Coaching Team

Head Coach: Jim Walker

Jim is a former Olympic athlete with extensive rowing experience. He started rowing as a high school student, and remembers the impact his first rowing coach had on his life.  He spent the next 17 years dedicated to the sport, going on to compete with the British national team at two Junior World Championships, nine World Championships and two Olympic Games. He has a World Championships bronze medal in the men's eight event, a World Junior Championships silver medal in the straight four event, has won events at Henley Royal Regatta four times and won numerous gold medals at major international regattas including Lucerne, Piediluco, Paris, Canadian Henley and the San Diego Crew Classic.

Jim, his wife Heidi and their family have been Cary Park residents  since 2012. When he isn't down at Jordan Lake developing the next generation of rowers, Jim is working on  water and energy issues.

Jim and Heidi started the club on beautiful Jordan Lake so that their kids and many others would be able to row close to home and access the opportunities it can provide.
