Our g-rowing team!

Where we row
Our primary training venue is within a 20 minute drive for residents in the South Cary, Apex, Chapel Hill, Pittsboro and Jordan Lake areas. Thanks to our friends at Wake County and RDU Crew, we also have access to Lake Crabtree near RDU airport.

Why we row
Rowing is an exceptional sport for building teamwork and fitness. Parents of high school-age girls may also be interested to know that, in part thanks to the Title IX program, rowing provides
strong opportunities for university sports scholarships .  For more on rowing please take a look at our resources pages .

Our story
In September 2015 we contacted our local neighborhood to see if kids in our area would be interested in rowing at Jordan Lake. The response was really positive, with many families responding to a post on NextDoor.

That Fall we welcomed twenty-five students to the sport. By January, thanks to the support of members of the local rowing community, the owners of Crosswinds Marina and our group of founding families, we established Jordan Lake Rowing Club as a non-profit, year-round program for high school-aged  students.

In the Spring of 2017 we completed our first year of racing. We have now added a middle school program for 2017-2018.
